Ode To Heather
Heather was wondering why her name hasn't come up in a few posts. Fair enough I assume. Well, I dont have a lot of time as I'm writing this in class, but here's a quick Haiku to prove I'm still thinking about her:
Shorter and cuter
Than almost anyone else
She has pretty hair
So I'm not friggin Walt Whitman. Bite me. Just wanted to show that she's still on my mind.
...I'm a good boyfriend, I swear!

Jiggity Jig
Home once again. People who don't know me in real life, reading this blog, must think I'm always home. Not so. It's not pleasant business that brings me here this time, either. My grandmother's health is deteriorating rapidly, so I felt I should get a visit in since I had the time and the means.
But hey, why the sob story right? There are mathematician dogs out there!
...huh?
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, 'Zach, you've finally lost your friggin mind.' True! But I'm not making this up. Researchers have found that canines (as well as other animals) have an innate sense of calculus. Look for yourself: Calculus + Dogs = Yay!
See! This is particularly impressive, considering that I barely passed pre-calc in high school. I mean, its not like the dog sees the ball and works out an advanced quadratic equation in his head (I'm not even sure if there are quadratic equations in calc, that's just the largest word I remember from any math class). It's more like they just know the path to run that offers them the shortest amount of time from starting point to ball, which is something we would have to figure out using calculus equations. They, the dogs, just know it, the same way we dont have to think about how to walk or breathe.
Also, before someone as geeky as I starts hollering at me for not mentioning it, hats off to digg for providing me with that story. If you have the smallest amount of nerd/geek in you, that's the website you want as your homepage. It's fun and educational!
So there's that. Dogs. Math. Grandmothers. Geeks. All in one blog post. How's that for eclectic?
